| Please excuse a grammar teacher for correcting. It is my job to teach you, no? I have nothing against you, but I can't properly respond to what you're saying when it's worded such that it makes me cringe.
YES it already exists. WE ADDRESSED THIS. I KNOW THIS. I am doing this because it was a good idea and it was never given the attention it deserved! I'm not going to lie, it's difficult to teach an English class when we already have creative writing and literature/the library, two of the main components of English classes.
Furthermore, YOU'RE STILL NOT DOING ANYTHING USEFUL. I'm not getting rid of this idea, and by now you should have realized that. As a member, it is your job to give me ideas. After all, isn't interesting members a key component in running a successful class? You admonished a teacher in your inspections for being rude to her pupils; to choose a book on my own would be disrespectful and would probably result in a dead class. You know what? I'm not even going to take the time to respond to that, it's unnecessary. In other news; Ooh, you guys have some interesting ideas! I haven't even heard of some of those books, I'll definitely check them out. Mortal instruments (Magnus <3) seems pretty popular, which makes me happy...and Gemma Doyle. While I'm not a fan of Wuthering Heights, maybe studying it in book club would help me appreciate it more. We'll see. The poll will probably be open in about a week--only ten answer choices can be picked, which makes me a sad panda--but until then, keep suggesting! |

You know what i love you twirls but sometime you really annoys the hell out of me!
Do you even realize how you "English Teacher" talk? Aren't you supposed to be respectful?
The fact that the Book Club already existed was addressed to you only once so don't use that as a pretext to be mad!
I imagine that teaching this class can be difficult because of the library and the Creative Writing Class and I'm not blaming you so why bringing that up?
I never asked you to get rid of it, if you read correctly I even agreed with Diz that we could have two Book clubs. I didn't come here as a member but as the admins who tries to manage the classes. I'm not one of your student! And what are you saying that we should let teachers be rude and not respectful?
Now stop bitching for no reason and learn some respect. And don't go crying in the chatbox, members don't care if you "bitch me out"! You're being childish and ridiculous and i'm sure you know it.
Now you want ideas? Well start with google! Type English Lesson and you'll find so many things!

| Oooh, book club Yay. I'd really like to give a huge thumbs up to the suggestion of Elsewhere, that was a lovely book with a great concept behind it! As far as my own suggestions, I'm a little series-obseesed. The Sevenwaters Trilogy by Juliet Marillier (Daughter of the Forest, Son of the Shadows, and Child of the Prophecy) are excellent fantasy books, and I know that a good few of us love our fantasy around here. Lots of magic and heroics involved I also really, really love Douglas Adams's Hitchhiker's Guide books. There are many of them, but it'd probably be best to stick with The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy for a book club, because after that they just keep branching out and getting stranger...and a lot of people just really lose their interest once the weirdness really starts coming full force. I think the humor in them is delightful, though, eclectic and very witty at times. As far as single books, this IS a Twilight site, why not go for Dracula? Excellent book in my opinion; none of the movies made ever did it justice. And, let's see...I think that's all I can suggest for now. _________________ If you are wondering why my sig and avvie are so wondrous and awe-striking, it is because the glorious genius TSUKI has made them for me. | I'm glad that I'm getting you towards Hitchhiker's Guide. I wasn't sure how well you guys take to science fiction but I thought to myself, "Self, you should suggest HG," so I did. Also, long shot here, but Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card is also science fiction and it is AMAZING. The entire series is good, and there's a parallel book to Ender's Game called Ender's Shadow that covers the same time period from a different point of view. _________________ If you are wondering why my sig and avvie are so wondrous and awe-striking, it is because the glorious genius TSUKI has made them for me. | Okay, so here's what we've got so far: Identical by Ellen Hopkins Chocolat by Joanne Harris The Sugar Queen by Sarah Addison A Wolf at the Table by Augusten Burroughs The Northern Lights (also known as The Golden Compass in the U S of A) The Stuff of Nightmare by Malory Blackman Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray City of Bones by Cassandra Clare To kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee An Inspector Calls by J.B. Priestley Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin All We Know Of Heaven by Jacquelyn Mitchard Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams Dracula by Bram Stoker Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card Anyone who suggested a series, I tried to put the first book on there...I may have gotten that wrong on some of the ones I'm less familiar with, my bad. So...what are our top ten? I'm really interested in Dracula, Hitchhiker's Guide, and An Inspector Calls, for a start...as well as a lot of the others. But what do you guys think? |
