Welcome to lesson three: Patterns!

Patterns. You either like them or you don't. Spots, stripes, zig zags, smiley faces.... there are so many different kinds out there. What is your favourite pattern?

When sewing patterns, it can be hard to get them right. Luckily, with some sewing machines zig-zag and circle patterns are stitches you can do. Some people have to slave away though!

Task One: Look at these patterns.



Which ones are nice? Which one's arnt? What would you use on a skirt? A dress? A pair of shorts?

Task Two:
Go to www.stardoll.com. We have an account just for this class! The username is Twilightacademy. The password is twilightacademy. Dress up a doll of your choice in a particular pattern you like. Then save in it the album [There is a button underneath the doll]. After you have saved it, go to the album and place it in [Your doll will be saved in one of the little tabs]. Then decorate your page as you like!

1: this pattern is appealing to me becuase you can look at it as a white background or a black one. I would not wear this, though, I don't think.
2: I like this, It would be very cool on a sheer, flowy blouse.
3: no. no, no, no. too big of blocks, and I have this thing about patterns like that where they are very large and repeat themselves a lot in a small area.
4: This one I would never be caught dead wearing. EVER.
5: This looks like a sad excuse for some attempt at croc skin in black and white. Blech.
6: This could be cool, not necessarily for clothes, however.
7: WHere did you get these patterns from? I really think few would be stylish on clothing, and the ones that would, only on specific things. This one, no. Too busy. I am really picky about my patterns, I guess.
8: Okay, this one's not so bad. Again, though, it would probably only look good on an accessory or a sheer blouse.
9: This one is pretty much sweet. I can see this on a pencil skirt. Definitely.
10: WORMS!!! No way. I don't like it. Oh, maybe on a scarf it would be okay.
11: nope.
12: so-so. I could see a top made out of this, but I think it could only look really good on people with darker skin.

1. hmmm im not a big fan of this one but i would use it maybe for a purse or a skirt...not a blouse or pants

2. i would buy this one in a skirt. on pants i think it would look really weird. On a blouse i think it would look okay.

3. ew... um i don't really like this one at all, maybe a purse?

4. eek...um again maybe a purse?

5. i would like this one in a purse, but not pants and definatly not a top or a jacket. it's too spotted for my liking.

6. this one wouldn't be bad as a top because of the lines going sideways. i think those lines would make you look very nice.

7. i don't like this one at all... again a purse? the lines are just too confusing and if it were a shirt then it would just confuse me ... alot.

8. oh i actually like this one the best so far. it would look good as a blouse or a jacket. it almost looks ruffled so that would compliment alot.

9. This one isn't bad, it would look good as a blouse, jacket, or purse. i like the angles in it and i think that would look good in different colours

10. this one's not bad, but not my faveourite [Canadian spelling] it would look good reversed, like black on the bottom and white sqiggly lines on top of that. I would like this one as a blouse, and maybe a purse.

11. blouse, or purse, nothing more. this one is okkkayyy, but it seems...choppy.

12. ew this one looks like a medival castle no offence to anyone. i wouldn't make this into...anything.

1. I could see this on a skirt, maybe. It's a little too overpowering for my taste, but anything more than a skirt and I think it would become to overpowering.
2. I could see this on a dress or skirt easily. Not so much on shorts, well, actually I could see it a little on shorts.The dress would have to be kind of a sundress type thing though for it to work in my opinion.
3. I hate this. It's so weird and overpowering and I think on anything it would look overpowering and stupid.
4. I could see this on shorts. I think it would look kind of weird on most dresses, some dresses it could work I think. I can't really visualize it on a skirt.
5. I like this. I could see it on anything. It's similar to a leopard or cheetah print, so it's really versatile.
6. If this covered an entire dress I think it would look weird and old-fashioned. I could see it on a skirt, but it wouldn't be ideal. Short I think would be the best for it, but I'm not sure how good it would look.
7. I like this one too. I can see it on pretty much anything. It's really versatile.
8. Again, I could see this on pretty much anything as well.
9. No, to weird looking and big and choppy. Maybe a skirt, [i]maybe[i].
10. I could see this on a skirt or a top the best, maybe a dress.
11. It's kind of weird, I think it could look good on a skirt maybe.
12. It's kind of big and overpowering too. If you had to put it on something, I would vote shorts.
