| I thought it might be good to practice translating English - German, German - English a little^^ It works like this: I start with an English sentence, the next person translates it into German, post a German sentence etc. like this: Me : English sentence Next person: translates sentence into German, new German sentence Next person: translates sentence into English, new English sentence ... Please donīt make the sentences too difficult^^ Avoid using a dictionary if possible (if you look everything up and donīt even think about it this wonīt have any use...) So, the first sentence: Lucy, a little girl from Denmark, enjoys riding very much. _________________ Proud winner of the MOST LIKE EDWARD and MOST LIKELY TO RUN A BOOKSTORE (together with Alu) awards and also very proud to say that SHANA won the CUTEST TA COUPLE award ~~~~~~~To Hana-chan, the girl I truly love~~~~~~~ Iīm Sho, 50% of ShanaThe opposite of war isnīt peace - itīs creation! | Okay, well... Lucy stays "Lucy" of course... a little girl is "ein (a) kleines (little) Mädchen (girl)" from Denmark is "aus (from) Dänemark (Denmark)" enjoys riding is "genießt (enjoys) das Reiten (riding)" in German we need the article here if we cose to translate riding with a noun. If riding is translated as a verb is has to be "reiten" pay attention to spelling!!! In German, nouns are always written with a capital letter (cf. "das Reiten" (noun) - "reiten" (verb)), verbs, adjectives or other words are written with a small letter. very much would be "sehr viel" if you translated it literally. But a German wouldnīt say that in this context. Weīd rather just say "sehr" (very; much can also mean "sehr"...) So it would be: Lucy, ein kleines Mädchen aus Dänemark genießt das Reiten/ reiten sehr. New sentence: Ich liebe schwimmen im Meer. (If you donīt know one or two words you may use a dictionary. I recommend www.leo.org ) _________________ Proud winner of the MOST LIKE EDWARD and MOST LIKELY TO RUN A BOOKSTORE (together with Alu) awards and also very proud to say that SHANA won the CUTEST TA COUPLE award ~~~~~~~To Hana-chan, the girl I truly love~~~~~~~ Iīm Sho, 50% of ShanaThe opposite of war isnīt peace - itīs creation! | Iīd actually say: I love swimming in the ocean^^ Iīm sorry it was probably too hard... you canīt know that "im" is actually "in dem" --> in the We abridge it because "in dem" sounds weird somehow ^^ --------------------------------------------------------- A fine friend you are (to me)^^ --> I think youīd probably leave out the "to me"... but that would be the literal translation (with the "to me") (lol that was kind of random...) Where did you get that sentence? lol Mine is: How do you do today, Mrs Stevenson? be careful with that: īHow do you doī is a saying^^ Donīt translate it literally^^ _________________ Proud winner of the MOST LIKE EDWARD and MOST LIKELY TO RUN A BOOKSTORE (together with Alu) awards and also very proud to say that SHANA won the CUTEST TA COUPLE award ~~~~~~~To Hana-chan, the girl I truly love~~~~~~~ Iīm Sho, 50% of ShanaThe opposite of war isnīt peace - itīs creation! | You can put "How do you do" in all to leo.org^^ You can try equivalents of it as well; maybe theyīre easier to translate..^^ _________________ Proud winner of the MOST LIKE EDWARD and MOST LIKELY TO RUN A BOOKSTORE (together with Alu) awards and also very proud to say that SHANA won the CUTEST TA COUPLE award ~~~~~~~To Hana-chan, the girl I truly love~~~~~~~ Iīm Sho, 50% of ShanaThe opposite of war isnīt peace - itīs creation!
