Exactly. If it 'ran through their veins' during Eclipse, instead of the body parts simply looking like stone, venom would be spurting out of them. But I guess since their hearts don't beat, their 'venom' doesn't circulate.

it doesn't circulate. i guess, during transformation, the venom spreads with blood in all parts of body with their human heart pumping. and it just stays there. so when the heart stops, it doesn't need to circulate, cause it's already spread through transformation...

Sorry if this sounds a little harsh, but I think if Meyer had taken more time to explain things in the book (or actually answer the questions at meet and greets) none of us would even have any questions about it.

And besides, during sex, it's not like the blood simply stays in the penis, doesn't the blood still circulate around the body, even through the penis? It's not like it has it's own little blood source.

Yes but that blood isn't running through his veins. That is like when we eat food it gives us energy but the food itself doesn't run through our veins.

I think it's because the wenom wasn't actually put into her blood stream. It was just in her mouth, So she needed the venom in her blood, not just her mouth. That's how a vampire is created. By biting and putting the venom into the bloodstream.

But the idea is (if she's using science to explain her vampires which she's claimed to be doing) that when one has oral sex (if you don't know what that is, please turn away) if the man/woman has a STD, it can be transmitted to the other person through the mucus membrane inside the mouth.

And if the saliva holds venom (this is where it varies. for humans STD's are not transmitted through saliva and it's impossible to transmit them through saliva) then it should be absorbed the same way HIV or any other STD would be. Hence why anyone with a STD will use a condom (unless it's a woman. then she'll probably use something like a dental dam) even for oral sex.

I figure if she's trying to explain it by science, science should cover all her bases. It doesn't.

Though for some STD's such as AIDS they can be transferred through saliva. But anyway thats not my point When Bella and Edward were kissing I don't think and saliva/venom was transferred since Edward was so careful and they never french kissed. Also I see Edward and Bella as a rather conservative couple when I comes to sex Bella may never have preformed oral sex on edward so that transfer would never have happened.

I expect Bella and Edward to have a rather vanilla sex life (if you don't count her masochistic mind set in BD) so I don't expect they would EVER go near oral sex, too much risk for him to hurt her. HOWEVER, I'm saying, the mucus membranes inside the mouth can pick up STDS (I'm going to use HIV as an example because that one (and several others) literally screw with your blood and blood cells) that can run through the blood system. If that's possible, then can't vampirism happen from his venom!semen inside her vagina? The walls of the vagina are covered in mucus membranes. It's possible.

But the problem is, I don't think Stephenie really thought all this through. If she hadn't explained so many things in NM and Eclipse, then we wouldn't have these questions, because it wouldn't have been proved false by her earlier claims.
